    * Créer et scripter une partie du contenu du jeu (missions, objets, personnages, didacticiels…), régler son gameplay (aspects RPG, difficulté...)

    * La réalisation d’objets 3D (objets du décor, éléments d’architectures, etc..) et leur intégration dans les niveaux ( via l’éditeur d’Unreal Engine)

    Profil

    VSTEP, an independent Dutch developer of both entertainment games and professional training applications (sometimes referred to as Serious Games), is looking for a talented Senior Visual Effects (FX) Artist to join our team. Successful candidates will be able to research, conceptualize, and animate natural effects like water waves, weather, fire, smoke, foliage, dust, fabric. You must have an interest in real-world simulation and be driven to create effects never before seen in video games. You will have a good eye for effective visual representations. Successful candidates must be proficient in animation and have an understanding of physical principals.

    Our development team is a mix of about 30 BSc and MSc level programmers and artists from The Netherlands, UK, Austria, Poland and India. We are the developers of the successful Ship Simulator franchise, and the RescueSim training products for fire-fighters and Navy officers.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Responsible for the development of a large range of visual effect art assets according to the agreed design and within the constraints of the target hardware and software. These art assets include particle systems, shader code, meshes, textures, and animations.
    * Partners closely with the Lead Developer, Shader Programmer, Lead Environment Artist and Producer and will be responsible for creating spectacular visual effects.
    * Responsible for all technical and aesthetic considerations for the project’s visual effect art style.
    * Manages In-Game Particle Effects work, Explosions, Gunfire, Energy FX, weather effects, etc.
    * Communicates with programmers/designers as necessary to bring tasks to completion.
    * Provides creative input specific to assigned tasks.

    Qualifications:

    The role we are looking to fill is likely to involve mainly environment modelling initially but any applicant is more likely to be considered if they offer other skills and experience as well as proficiency in building game worlds.

    We are looking for artists who use good processes, such as reference gathering in their work and can effectively build geometry for authentic real world environments to a technical specification. An understanding of how best to represent environments in a game world to best effect from the players perspective is also essential.

    An artist who has experience modelling environments for racing games would be of particular interest to us. Experience with Photoshop is essential and Maya experience is preferred.

    What skills does Criterion look for?
    (A showreel is essential for an applicant to be considered for this position.)
    The portfolio/show reel must demonstrate the following:
    - Evidence that the artist understands modeling requirements for video games
    - Evidence that the artist can work from reference and create believable, authentic geometry

    Responsibilities

    * Work with Lead Artist and Technical Environment art team to deliver High quality assets, Environment detailing and support environment pipeline efficiency.
    * Responsible for the creation and implementation of High Quality Environment assets to the project's specifications.
    * Will work with the Lead Technical Artist to maintain project specific budgets for the environment assets.
    * Take responsibility for producing own work to a high standard and to any agreed schedules.

    Qualifications Required
